Valentine's Day Dodge Ball?!

What a fun date! We got together with 5 other couples for Valentine's Day and played Dodge Ball! Strange date idea, especially for V-Day, but ohhhh so fun! We ate dinner at the church - we all pitched in and made something and it was delicious. I made the oh-so-yummy Brownie Triffle from my sisters' recipe. Instead of putting it in a bowl, I made little individual servings with the clear plastic cups. Very cute (I should've taken a picture of them, they really were adorable). After dinner, we played Dodge Ball in the gym. We started out with our spouses, and then we mixed the teams up. I tried so hard to get Brad out, but never could do it. The boys were a little dangerous with the balls, so we made a rule that if they were going to throw at a girl, they had to use their left hand. It was hilarious to see them throw, but still, they could aim! After a while, the boys played BBall and the girls played a fun game of PIG. Remember the days in the summer at the neighbors bball hoop (before we had ours)? Playing Lightning and PIG? What fun, what fun! So our V-Day was super fun, but the next 2 days were something else! I haven't had sore muscles like that since high school. I'm not getting old, just out of shape! Or is it the other way around?! I don't know which is worse, or more humiliating to admit too :)

Cheetah Girl

Go Cheetahs! That's the name of Meagan's Jr. Jazz BBall team. I wonder who chose that name? . . . her team is made up of 2nd and 3rd grade girls. :) She has been so excited to play Jr. Jazz and now she's finally old enough. We love to watch her every week and she's really improving. She's such a funny girl - she even wanted wrist bands. We found some at Walmart, but the ones she wanted had NBA embroidered on them, not the cute pink or white ones! Go figure! When Meagan goes, she goes BIG! We love her enthusiasm! The pics are kinda blurry - I need to figure out how to use the sport function on my camera, but they're cute anyway!

This was my favorite - Meag looks so cute, all interested in the game! Brad was "substituting" for the coach this week.

Mommy's Big Helper

What a sweetie. I got Tanner and myself all dressed up to go outside to shovel the driveway. He has his own shovel and LOVES to help Daddy, so I thought he would want to help me too. I started at the stairs and when I finished I looked behind me and Tan had shoveled (in about 3 foot increments) a little path down the sidewalk. He was so proud of himself. Then we shoveled the rest of the driveway. He kept saying, "Good helper!" as he would scoop his snow and dump it on the side of the driveway. What a cutie! And that's the truth! My big helper, Tanner, drippy nose and all!

Waiting for his reward - Honeyville Farms Marshmallow
Motherlode Hot Chocolate (duh, of course!)
"It's Yummy!"
Say CHEESE!

Oh Where Oh Where Has My Little Ellie Gone?

Ellie, Ellie, Ellie! The last few days she has really gotten the hang of scooting around. She never sits up anymore, she'll immediately get down on her stomach and start moving around. So last night I was folding laundry on my bed and Ellie was on the floor playing with a toy. I looked down and all I saw was her feet sticking out from under our bed. Guess what she had found . . . LUCY! Lucy didn't seem to be too bothered (at least until Ellie got a nice big handful of fur). Oh boy! Then this morning I walked into our bedroom and only saw the tip of Ellie's head poking out from under our bed! Another fun toy . . . the wrapping paper! She'll grow up to be the kid that always hides from her parents and builds tents all over the house! What a kook!

Bidding farewell to a good friend

Tonight was a sad night at the Matthews . . . we ate the last can of Beef Chunks for dinner. For many, you may think this is silly -but only because you haven't had the pleasure of tasting the divine chunks of beef that they are! I've been told that the church will no longer be selling the beef chunks that you bottle at the cannery. How very unfortunate. For this reason I blog tonight with sadness in my heart and a tear in my eye. So long beef chunks, you've brought us much nutrition and taste. We'll always remember you and you'll always hold a special place in our family's hearts!

OUCH!

Yesterday, as I was getting the kids out the door for school, Brad pulls up in the driveway. "That's strange, I wonder what he's doing?" So he walks in the house and I take one look at him and can see that something is wrong with his lip. He starts telling me that he was playing basketball in his P.E. class and a student accidentally elbowed him in the mouth. Then he shows me the inside of his lip and I literally backed away in horror. It was so disgusting - there was a huge jagged cut in his lip. We took him to the doctor and got him all fixed up -5 stitches! Even the doctor said it looked like he had put a firecracker in his mouth! So, be thankful this picture wasn't taken before the stitches - this definitely looks better, but give him another day or two and he'll have quite the canker! OUCH!

What is on my head!!

Well here it is folks, my first post - actually the 2nd, but this is the first one I've done all by myself. We had such a fun Christmas break visiting with all our families - we didn't want it to end, but time marches on and school is in session. I wouldn't be doing this right now if it wasn't for my hubby who gave me this fun little toy and my sisters who so patiently sat beside me and helped me set up my blog (very patiently sat beside me)! Thanks guys - I luv ya! Anyway, here's a few pics from our Christmas break!
